In the far west of Cornwall our rivers and streams run clear and golden, with rainwater draining off the peat moors and flowing over gold coloured granite. Our acid soil also means hydrangeas flower in shades of blue. These hydrangeas dipping into the Penberth River are the perfect foil for the flowing gold beneath them. Iridescent blue-black Beautiful Demoiselle damselflies flutter across the river, together with Gold-ringed dragonflies. There is no part of my garden I love more.
