Unfurling Fern on Riverbank

Ferns fill the wooded valley in which I live and work. There is great variety, and this is particularly fascinating in late Spring when they all unfurl, some in a filigree of green, others deeply covered in orange scales that give an engaging shaggy appearance. Along the riverbank all ferns thrive in the moist air and grow with primroses, violets and bluebells. No planted garden could be lovelier.
