White Hydrangea with Grasses

Our winter began with a November so benign the white hydrangeas began to flower again and for a moment it was like the promise of summer. I use the fine lines of grasses both in my garden and textile art. They cut through compositions, dissecting and leavening more solid forms. The white hydrangeas age to subtle shades of ivory and green speckled with red and I translate these shifts of colour into hand-dyed silk, satin and velvet.
