Paperwhites St Loy

Paperwhites St Loy, Cornwall, textile collage, Amanda Richardson Artist
Narcissi where grown commercially on the coast of Cornwall in the early part of the twentieth century. Early crops were achieved by planting them in tiny fields terraced on the steep cliff-sides with granite hedges breaking the strength of the wind. With modern farming methods these fields have become deserted and are now overgrown with bracken. In the first months of the year a wonderful variety of narcissi emerge, blooming in great profusion with a backdrop of the Atlantic.
