Knapweed, Stipa, Bumblebees and Fritillary

Knapweed, Stipa, Bumblebees and Fritillary textile collage Amanda Richardson Artist
Knapweed came into my garden of its own accord and now rises through Stipa tenuissima on dark stems with bursts of purple for flowers. These are beloved of bees and so the plants are always humming with activity. In describing this finest of grasses I have used both dye-work and tightly woven satin, cut to lengths hardly more than a hairs breadth. With the use of light reflective fabrics the grasses and flowers shimmer, as they do in my garden.
