'Trout Stream in Spring with Honey Bee' 24 inches x 18 inches. The full title and a special request.
'Trout Stream in Spring', the first fresh water fish in my textile collages. An interesting exercise in suggestion.
The commission 'Queen Anne's Lace with Milkweed' is finished, approved and ready to ship.
A visit to Dogbite Studios in Falmouth yesterday for the making of a video for Export Cornwall by Defacto Films http://www.defactofilms.co.uk/
I was asked to contribute, having attended so many excellent Export Cornwall workshops.
Having visited the Gargano Peninsula in Italy last year I became very excited about the extraordinary array of wild orchids on hillsides strewn with limestone. I now plan series of textile collages exploring the subject.
'Queen Anne's Lace with Milkweed' is nearing completion. By the end of the weekend I hope to fix the glue and see just what I have got.
Milkweed's particular charm is that it is fascinating from the earliest buds to the full blown flowers. I particularly like the changes in colour.
There is a particular elegance to the waves that curve into Whitesands Bay. They seem to weave together in a stately dance. In this textile collage I describe the interacting forms in hand-dyed, light reflective fabrics that shift and change like the sea.
The Queen Anne's Lace is taking form, a combination of satin and velvet.
This design is for a commission 4 feet x 3 ft.
